Engaging People with Lived Experience
Community Listening Sessions: What we did
The Building Healing Systems team hosted listening sessions, or structured conversations, with community members to get their opinions on how the public behavioral health system can best support healing in their community.
- We hosted 5 listening sessions, with 6-8 community members in each
- All participants were age 18+ and living in Maryland
- We compensated participants and the coordinators of the organizations we partnered with
- unless not allowed due to conflict of interest
- Community members were asked not to share their personal trauma stories, but rather their opinions based on their experiences
Community Listening Sessions: What we heard
We created 3 different reports to summarize what we heard during the listening sessions.
- For a brief overview, check out the Listening Session 1-Pager.
- For a summary of people’s hopes for the future of behavioral healthcare and thoughts on training needed for providers, check out the Listening Session 2-Pager.
- For an in-depth look at all of the questions we asked and a summary of answers we received, check out the Full Listening Session Summary Report.
